iPad Messenger Bag

Dean Briefcase Messenger, Camel

A Fossil messenger bag will protect your tablet PC while providing a stylish look for yourself. Just the sort of warm-fuzzy you like in Apple products. Read on for some cool options.

iPad Messenger Bag and Case Selections

If you’re like most people you’ll carry your iPad with you throughout the day. But you’ll want something to protect it and make it more convenient to take with you. A typical messenger isn’t likely to provide all the protection a valuable possession and all your personal data, applications, and music deserve. A messenger designed for a laptop may be larger than you’d like, and you don’t want your iPad sliding around in a compartment that’s too large. We’ve heard that the Dean Messenger works well with iPads. We’re looking into this and digging for more.  If you don’t mind a little extra size, check out these mens messenger bags.

Fossil Dean Briefcase

Although it doesn’t shout messenger, this Fossil bag is reported to be great for iPads and small laptops. This bag is available in camel (shown above), olive, and green. It’s smaller than most, measuring 12” long, 9.5” high, and about 2” thick and made of heavy cotton with leather trim. There’s a zip pocket on the back in addition to a cargo pocket on the front. Inside there’s a padded compartment for an iPad, other tablet PC, or netbook. There’s a second non-padded compartment, a zip pocket, and a slip pocket on the inside as well. Although it might look like a briefcase, it is a messenger with a long strap, adjustable to 30 inches.

Fossil iPad Cases

If the Dean doesn’t you, then you’ll be carrying your iPad in some other messenger. But it still needs some added protection in the form of a tablet case. Since it’ll be out of the way most of the time almost any protective case will do. But you might want to consider these stylish cases from Fossil. They’re great even when you don’t have a messenger bag.

Scout Tablet Sleeve

photo scout iPad sleeveCosting around $40 this case doesn’t cost all that much more the purely utilitarian iPad cases you see everywhere. But this one is canvas with leather trim for a look that’s both fashionable and functional.
The closure is a magnetic flap for easy access and secure closing. The inside lining is soft cotton, helping to keep your tablet’s touch screen free of scratches. There’s also a zip pocket on the back as well as a snap slip pocket on the front for other small and thin items. Overall dimensions are 10 ½ inches by 8 ½ inches.

The exterior of this $45 sleeve is all leather with bold stitching. This gives it a simple functional and rugged look. The inside is a suede-like lining, just perfect for keeping your tablet’s touch screen scratch free. The cover is a flap with a pin collar. This makes it quick and easy to open close, but stays closed when you want it to. There’s a zip pocket on the back. Overall size is 10 ¼ inches by 8 ½ inches.

Lineage Tablet Sleeve

These iPad cases run about $75, but when you consider the styling, materials, and construction they’re well worth it. They boast a rugged, professional, and almost Victorian look. (in fact, any of these leather cases would befit a Steam Punk affectionado, whether for a lap top or other thin goods.) You can choose between two all-leather colors or a cloth sleeve with leather trim (see below).

The closure is a hidden magnetic snap. The single inside compartment is faux suede for a rich look and feel and to protect your tablet against scratches. Outside dimensions are 10 ½ inches by 8 ½ inches. The Lineage is about ¾ inch thick.

Summary

Although we haven’t identified a Fossil iPad messenger bag per se, we hope the sleeves above were of interest to you. We’ll keep looking to see which Fossil bags with laptop compartments are suitable for iPads. By all means, contact us if you know of one.

Mens Messenger Bags

I prefer the look of canvas mens messenger bags. Plus although they might not be ideal for rainy weather, they’re a lot cooler in hot weather. They’re also a lot more affordable, though perhaps not as high-fashion. We’ve talked about some popular leather bags, so lets look at some canvas messengers.

Canvas Bags

Brown

Fossil Wagner East-West Messenger

This economical canvas bag is made of washed canvas with a black canvas strap and features antiqued brass hardware. It’s a general-purpose messenger bag with just enough room for a 15 inch laptop. It’ll also hold tablets, but probably not tablets already in their own bag. This men’s messenger bag combines a rugged look with functionality and light weight. It’s neither boring nor flashy, not too formal and not too casual.

It’s great for school or college, spacious enough to carry a few books. It’s also great for the daily commute, with lots of space easily holding your cell phone, keys, work badge, chargers, even lunch. If you pack it right it might even double as a pillow (minus a lunch). On the down side there aren’t any pen or pencil pockets. A wide strap helps make it extra comfortable, even when hevily loaded.

The closure is a simple flap and magnetic rather than velcro fasteners. The interior contains a laptop pocket, 2 slip pockets, and a nylon zipper pocket. All total there’s almost a dozen pockets. The two front pockets are large enough for chargers, yet safe against fall-outs. Overall dimensions are 16 inches long by 4 ½ inches wide by 12 inches high. Although just under $100, Fossil’s quality means it will last you a long time.

“If you are looking for a stylish bag to carry the daily essentials, then I whole-heartedly recommend the Fossil Wagner Messenger Bag.” – J.A.

photo wagner waxedFossil Wagner Waxed Canvas Duffle

Not to be confused with the Wagner East-West, this bag is “waxed” canvas for extra water and stain resistance. Coming in at just under $120, the Wagner “Duffle” is a balance of stylish and nerdy, combined with quality materials and construction.

Not quite a messenger bag due to it’s 9 inch width, it’s popular and close-enough to include it here. It’s essentially a small duffle bag with a detachable strap. Materials are waxed canvas with leather accents and leather bottom support and a nylon lining. There’s double leather handles, and antiqued brass-toned hardware.

Closure is a zip top. On the outside you’ll find two front fold-over pockets and the interior includes two zip pockets and a nylon zip pocket. Overall dimensions are 19 ½ inches long, 9 inches wide, and 13 ½ inches high.

Fossil Region Messenger

photo fossil region bagThis distinctive looking messenger is an homage to the classic camera bag. It’s made of coated twill with leather trim. The closure is a flap with magnetic snaps and a zipper. Inside there’s three slip pockets, a zip pocket, and a padded laptop compartment. Outside you’ll see double cargo pockets under the flap plus a slip pocket with magnetic snap on the back. This bag is a bit expensive compared to other canvas bags, running roughly $170. Overall dimensions are 16 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 12 inches deep. The strap is adjustable from 14 to 29 inches.

Fossil Max E/W

photo max E/WThis messenger also lists for about $170, but you can sometimes find it at 10% to 15% discounts. The Max East-West is canvas with leather trim, and arrives with a worn vintage look.

The Max is a great backpack replacement for college students. Combining the interior and exterior pockets, there’s room for books, a laptop, pens, folder, etc. The extra-wide leather strap helps it stay comfortable even with a heavy load, and has a wide adjustment range.

Closure is a flap with push lock. The interior includes a padded computer compartment, two slip pockets and zip pockets. On the exterior you’ll find a slip cargo pocket under the flap plus a slip pocket on the back. Outside dimensions are 15 inches long by 4 inches wide by 12 inches high.  Overall a great mens messenger bag.

“A great choice for anyone who wants an all-around messenger bag for school that looks great!” – Paul

Leather men’s messengers provide durability and a great look. Fossil’s come in a variety of styles from modern to retro and combat. We’ll talk about a few well-liked ones below, roughly in order of popularity.  You can find canvas mens messenger bags here.

Messenger bags are really a excellent melding of form in addition to purpose. Any bag truly worth having will be both stylish and also practical. You need a bag or satchel that is large enough for your modern-day conveniences and necessities. Yet something compact and light enough to ensure that they are not cumbersome.

These bags will be much better than a briefcase or backpack. Messenger bags give the capacity along with the convenience you want. A shoulder-strap distributes weight comfortably. Fossil messengers are a superb mix off quality plus fashionable design and style. Their manufacturing and materials are excellent, making them both durable and stylish.

Leather Messenger Bags for Men

Fossil Men’s Combat Messenger Bag

This premium messenger has a military and explorer appearance, looking both functional and durable. The Combat is leather with a canvas strap. The unique closure is a snap-through gadget that I saw decades ago on government surplus gear. Another retro design that brings Indiana Jones to mind. Well, at least for me. Or maybe that mummy guy.

Another premium messenger in leather with a canvas strap. This one has loads of pockets inside and out. There’s two side slip pockets as well as a slip pocket under the flap. Fossil Lineage Messenger

photo lineage bagOne more premium-priced designer messenger, though you can sometimes find this one at a discount. It has a classic look and Fossil refers to it as a flight bag. But to me it seems a lot like briefcase with a shoulder strap.

Overall dimensions are 11 inches length, 3 inches width, and 13 inches height. The interior has two slip pockets plus a padded slip pocket for tablet computers. There’s also another slip pocket under the flap. Closure is the flap plus an interior push lock.

Fossil Jackson Commuter

photo commuter messengerThis is a relatively low-priced messenger, especially for a leather bag, and you can often find it at a bit of a discount. When I’m not in a retro-mood this is one of my favorites. It’s clean, casual, sleek, and simple. There’s no handle, earning a “hands-free” label from fossil. It’s made of soft leather and is actually foldable.

Closure is the simple flap. Inside there’s one zip pocket, one slip pocket, and an ID window. It’s great for tablets and net-books up to about 12 inches. Overall dimensions are 12 inches length, 3 inches width, and 11 inches height. An affordable and practical leather messenger bag for men.

To me, the Union City is one of Fossil’s most retro-looking messenger bags. There’s lots of subtle vintage detailing as well as some some sewn-on labels and some bold stenciling. The stenciled lettering is on the back, so that it doesn’t become a distraction to the cleaner overall look. It’s made of cotton, with a zip closure, in olive, black and khaki. The strap is adjustable from about 12 inches to 28 inches. The price is around $120.

Fossil Messenger Choices

Fossil’s messenger bags cover a wide range of types – men’s, women’s, canvas, and leather in a variety of designer styles. This site will help you find the one that’s right for you.

I’ve always loved messenger bags, even before they became popular. They’re not a purse (hey, I’m a guy), yet they’re not cumbersome like a briefcase or backpack. Plus I just really like the look, especially for the various Fossil messenger bags.

Why a Messenger Bag?

To me, messenger bags are a great melding of form and function. They’re both practical and fashionable, and Fossil makes some of the best looking you’ll find anywhere. This style of bag is large enough to carry all your stuff – smart phones, tablets, sketch book, check book, note pad, and so on. Yet they’re small and light enough so that they’re not cumbersome. You don’t get a lot of weigh to lug around in your hand like you do with a briefcase, and in crowded situation they sling out of the way on your back. They’re not as bulky as a backpack, and you can get into them without having to take them off. The over-the-shoulder strap distributes any weight comfortably, and provides security against snatchers.

Fossil Quality

Fossil produces all sorts of other types of bags, and I’ve found their messenger bags to be one among the best. They’re a great combination of quality and designer style. Their construction and materials are top quality, with fine stitching, making them both durable and stylish.

Most of these Fossil bags are suitable for both men and women, and everyone will have their own preference in styles. I’m featuring some mens messenger bags here.  Some are modern, most are retro, and a few are even combat-style courier bags. The Fossil Wagner East-West Messenger is one of their most popular bags. The vintage line is also particularly popular, especially the Vintage Re-Issue Messenger. The Grant series is also quite popular, and there’s a long list of other styles with a wide choice of materials and color.

Narrowing Your Choices

Simply browsing the pictures on this site for a look you like just might be enough for a choice. We’ll also be adding some indexing and searching to this site to help you along, so stay tuned.

Leather bags are expensive, running from about $120 up to around $300, but are a great investment in that they just might last a lifetime. Canvas and other cloth bags are more my personal style and are easier on the pocketbook, ranging from a bit under $90 up to about $180.

Whatever you choose, you’ll almost certainly be satisfied A Fossil messenger bag is a good investment in both convenience and style.
